I am extremely enthusiastic about conservation and increasing our biodiversity around us and I wish to highlight conservation issues through my work, and to educate people as best I can using my photos.

I write this now as a qualified Freshwater and Marine biologist who has spent time both in these environments and on land and in the company of several of their species that call these habitats home. From freediving with Cape fur Seals in shark Alley in South Africa, to being roared at from a few meters away by a Rutting Red stag, my wildlife pursuits have been far from tame, expected, or quiet.

But along with a degree in Marine biology, I pair this knowledge with my passion for wildlife and wildlife photography.

I made the final round of the Natural History Museums’ annual wildlife photography competition, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, in the UNDERWATER Category. The Natural History Museum’s annual wildlife photography contest has reached its 60th year for the competition, and this year. My photo of the Spider-crab on a bed of sea-weed, taken in waters off the coast of Wexford made the final round in selection of the winning images.

I am the official photographer for Dunsany Nature Reserve, in county Meath, Ireland, currently the country’s largest Rewilding project. It is here that a lot of my photographs have been taken in my early days as a wildlife photographer. From woodpeckers and Jays, to Pine Martens, foxes, Red Kites, and Peregrine falcons, Dunsany has gifted me with sightings and scenes most people would only dream of.

I began my journey as a photographer much the same as every other photographer.

I started photography as a hobby in January 2019, and absorbed every shred of information and knowledge I could get. I upgraded to a professional camera body in 2020 and slowly but surely my photos evolved into works that I am incredibly proud of today.

Along with a passion for wildlife photography I also take landscape photos and I have recently incorporated a drone into my arsenal of camera gear to allow me to take shots at another level, from unseen perspectives.

From as far back as I can remember, I have had an obsession with the natural world and the vast array of wildlife within it.
